Russia: Social media giant Facebook Has initiated its Safety Check functionality after reports of two explosions in the Saint Petersburg Metro (‪петербургском метро).

Images on social media show large volumes of smoke in a Metro station‬, thought to be at a college station. The images so far reveal a passenger train, still appearing to be structurally intact, with windows and metal doors blown out. Civilians can be seen on video trying to assess what occurred.

The situation remains unclear. Russian media are reports up to ten deaths. The Russian President has expressed his condolences and has said that Federal agencies will support the investigation into the ‘explosions.’
