United States: Our condolences are extended to Ventura County Fire Department, family and community on the line of duty death of Fire Engineer Ryan Osler (38), who lost his life in a rollover accident on today.

A second firefighter was transported to a a local hospital with minor injuries. The Firefighters were enroute Vandenberg Air Force Base to assist with the Canyon Fire.

The wildfire started on the Base Saturday and had grown to over 12,000 acres. The Firefighters were in a water tender truck when it rolled multiple times.

Social media images emergency services and the public lining the highway as the deceased Firefighter was transported back to Ventura County.

In honor of Ryan Osler, California Governor Jerry Brown has ordered the State Capitol flags lowered, for a man who “dedicated his life to protecting his fellow Californians.”
